So, this post is a tad late, but I wanted to share the fab-ness with you all.
The other night, Thursday to be exact, me and my friend Katrina went to the NYWICI, “New Year, New You” event. We discussed going before and I just HAD to go. The enticement factor?: besides champagne flowing free-ly, Godiva chocolates galore and yummy hors d’oeuvres, the author of Sex and the City herself, Candace Bushnell would be the guest speaker PLUS it was at the DVF showroom in downtown Manhattan. I was pretty ecstatic, and actually ran to make it after a pretty hectic day. I met up with my amiga and fully took advantage of the drinkies and yummies, hey, why not? …….
Candace was absolutely fab in every way. She’s in her 50s and looked stunning in a pink DVF dress. She talked about her climb to the top, and yes, sex and all about the life of the modern NYC socialista. She emanated girl power at its fullest.
After her talk with the PACKED crowd (around 200 fashionistas in one showroom), a handful went up to her for a quick chat. I grabbed my friend and ran to get in line. Thank god I had my camera in hand and brought along my copy of her book to sign. She was so so sweet and chatted with us for a quick second. Good that we got to her when we did cause she left right after us.
Afterwards we browsed the showroom. Everything was drool-worthy. I swear, if I had enough money I’d like BUY the entire showroom; not only were the clothes fab, but the showroom itself was so chicly set up with bright pink walls, lush carpets, priceless paintings and a photo of the iconic DVF herself that I want hanging in my room. Now to have the millions or at least a couple thousand to splurge on a classic DVF dress *swoon.
The night ended with me and Kat getting some din din at Ginger’s, one of my fave Chinese restaurants. Food was so so good.
